My favorite overnight oats recipe

@ Pinterest

I never understood the hype about overnight oats, until I tried this recipe. Now I can probably have it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! What I like most about overnight oats is that they are really easy to make and save you so much time in the morning! You can add anything you want and make it as crazy as you would like. So now you’re probably thinking 'What’s in this recipe??' Well... Grab a cup and join me while I make my favorite overnight oats :)

1 First and most important: we start with oats
It depends on the person and what kind of cups you use, I like to use these cups from Ikea (down below). They are the perfect size and look good too! I like to use 30 - 45 grams of oats. I never weigh how many grams exactly but usually it’s around this.

2 Adding 10 grams of chia seeds
Chia seeds are filled with amazing nutrients like protein, healthy fats, fiber, and minerals like calcium and magnesium. So I like to add these throughout my diet.

3 Cinnamon!
Cinnamon combines all the flavors and adds that extra bit of spice. So usually I add around a teaspoon or more to my oats, but feel free to add as much as you would like.

4 Mix it all up with some milk
It depends on what kind of milk I have at home but today I used almond milk. Because there are so many flavors in the oats I don’t taste the milk that much so I usually take what’s still left. Of course, change this to the kind of milk you prefer. :)
I take about 150ML of milk to mix everything up. It’s really important that you stir well because the chia seeds can stick to the bottom and then your last bites will be filled with dry chia seeds. I’m speaking from experience and it’s not very tasty.

5 To make sure I’m filled until lunch I add half a banana.
Also, I just really like bananas for breakfast so that’s why I prefer it. You can switch this up and use some apples, blueberries, strawberries, kiwis, or anything you would like, or no fruits at all that’s also fine.

6 My favorite part, chocolate!!
I love chocolate so if I get the chance to use it in any kind of recipe, I will do it! But of course, to keep it a little bit healthy I use 75% dark chocolate. When I was young my sister always told me that pure chocolate is the best, and now I agree! But you know what’s even better? Dark chocolate with a pinch of sea salt, it’s delicious!! Dark chocolate with sea salt in overnight oats, life-changing.
But again, just like the bananas, if you want you can mix it up. Add milk chocolate, or don’t add chocolate, add almonds or raisins. Do what you want, go crazy!!

7 We are almost finished…
I like to add some yogurt on top of my oats, this makes the consistency thicker and more creamy which makes it easier to eat. When I first tried making overnight oats they never tasted like how I wanted them to. The yogurt on top changed that and combined everything together.

Like the name already says, keep it in the fridge overnight and enjoy it the next morning.

So, there it is my full overnight oats recipe. It looks like a lot of work but I can guarantee that it’s done in 5 min! It will make your mornings a lot easier and you will be more prepared for the day.

Try it out and experience it for yourself!
